WHERE TO STAY IN SKOPJE

During our time in Skopje, we opted for an Airbnb, located just off the main square, which was perfect. This area has plenty of things to do and see as well as local bars and restaurants. You will find many different options available all fairly reasonable pricing. We paid around £35 per night.

A brie summary of Skopje accommodation options:

  • For first-time visitors: Stay in Macedonia Square or the Old Bazaar to be close to major attractions.

  • For a tranquil escape: Opt for Mount Vodno or Villa Panorama for serene views and access to nature.

  • For a local experience: Debar Maalo offers a trendy, authentic vibe with plenty of dining options.

  • For budget stays: Consider Suto Orizari for affordable options without sacrificing accessibility.

If you are looking for a more unique experience in Skopje, we would recommend checking out Hotel Senigallia. Based on a former boat, Hotel Senigallia is a unique, floating hotel built on an old Italian ship that has been transformed into a charming boutique hotel. Nestled on the shores of Lake Ohrid, one of Europe's oldest and deepest lakes, the town boasts ancient churches, monasteries, and Roman ruins, alongside crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain views. Despite its incredible charm, if Ohrid were located in Switzerland, it would undoubtedly be flooded with tourists, its streets lined with boutique hotels and bustling cafés. Visitors can explore its UNESCO-listed old town at a leisurely pace, enjoying the tranquility of the lake and the rich cultural heritage without the crowds and commercialization that often accompany such stunning destinations.
